In this post, we will look at one of the playing card basics, the cards in a suit. We will examine all the cards in each suit, how many cards are in each suit, what each card is in each suit, and more.
The Cards in a Suit
There are four suits in a deck of cards. These suits are the Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades. This is one of the ways that a deck of cards is divided. (Learn more at Types of Cards in a Deck)
The cards in a suit are the Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, and King. Each suit gets one of each of these cards.
The Jack, Queen and King are known as the face cards. The other cards are the non-face cards or number cards. (See What is a Face Card in a Deck of Cards?) Each suit has these 3 face cards, and 10 non-face cards.

How Many Cards in a Suit?
There are 13 cards in a suit. These 13 cards are the Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, and King.
Each suit gets one of each of these cards and has the same number of cards, which is 13.

Card Suits Order
The order of card suits depends on the game that is being played. For example, in the game of bridge, the suits are ranked by alphabetical order. This makes the Clubs the lowest suit by rank, then the Diamonds, Hearts, and Spades are the highest-ranked suit. But in poker, all card suits are ranked the same.
Which Card Suit is Highest in Poker?
All card suits are ranked the same in Poker. Contrary to some popular beliefs, there is no suit that is the highest in Poker.
