What are the Red Face Cards?

First, let’s look at what the face cards are in a deck of cards.

The face cards are all the value cards that are either the Jacks, Queens or Kings in a deck of cards.  They are called the face cards because each of these has a picture of a person with a face on it.  On the non-face cards, or number cards, there are only numbers and also pips (miniature images of the suits).

Each suit gets one of each of the face cards.  There are 4 suits in a deck, the Hearts, Diamonds, Clubs and Spades.  The Hearts and Diamonds are the red cards (since the suit is a red color), and the Clubs and Spades are the black cards (since the suit colors are black).

The red face cards are all the face cards, the Jacks, Queens and Kings in the Hearts and Diamonds suits, since these are the two red suits.

How Many Red Face Cards are in a Deck of 52 Cards?

There are 6 red face cards in a deck of 52 cards.

This is because there are 3 face cards in each suit.  These face cards are the King, Queen and Jack.  There are a total of 4 suits in a deck of cards.  These suits are the 2 black suits, the Clubs and Spades, and the 2 red suits, which are the Hearts and Diamonds.

But because we are only looking at the red face cards, we only include the cards from the red suits, which are the Hearts and Diamonds only.  This means out of the 12 face cards in a deck, 6 of these are red face cards.

The other 6 face cards are the black face cards.

What is the Probability of Getting a Red Face Card in a Deck of 52 Cards?

The probability of drawing any card from a deck of cards is 1/52.  The probability of drawing a red face card from a deck would be 6/52 or 3/26.
